ORA-27102 from Startup comamnd

Can any body help me diagnose the following problem:

Oracle8 Enterprise Edition Release 8.0.5.0.0 - Production PL/SQL Release 8.0.5.0.0 - Production

SVRMGR> connect internal
Connected.
SVRMGR> startup nomount
ORA-27102: out of memory
SVR4 Error: 22: Invalid argument

Is there a tracing mechanism or log that I can utilise..
