Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> Required Oracle 8 packages - should "SUNWtool" be "SUNWtoo"?
I'm reading the Oracle 8.0.4 installation guide (for Solaris) and an OS
requirement is for the package "SUNWtool" to be installed. This is currently
not installed - however "SUNWtoo" is!
So what's the score here? Did Oracle mean "SUNWtoo", or is there a "SUNWtool" package that I must get?
From "pkginfo -l" I see --
PKGINST: SUNWtoo
NAME: Programming Tools
CATEGORY: system
ARCH: sparc
VERSION: 11.6.0,REV=1997.07.15.21.46
BASEDIR: /
VENDOR: Sun Microsystems, Inc.
DESC: utilities for software development, including ld, ldd, od, and
truss
HOTLINE: Please contact your local service provider
STATUS: completely installed
FILES: 28 installed pathnames
6 shared pathnames
7 directories
20 executables
955 blocks used (approx)
From this I guess it complements the "SUNWbtool" package (another Oracle pre-requisite) as SUNWbtool is described as "Software development utilities, including ar, dis, dump, lex, lorder, mcs, nm, prof, ranlib, rpcgen, size, strip, tsort, and yacc". I'm guessing the Sun SUNWtool package declares itself as SUNWtoo from pkginfo.
Any help appreciated,
Cheers,
Tiernan.
