Single vs Multiple user accounts ?

All the books I have read on Oracle + 3 tier development recommend using a
single user account to logon.  I understand that for some middleware
products (like MTS) this is a requirement so it can pool the connections.



Are there any benefits to having a single user account connected multiple
times in Oracle ??
