I run Oracle on 2.6 with 512meg of RAM. I have typically 50-100 meg in swap as well constantly. SWAP is allocated to many processes upon startup. Having allocated swap is OK, *swapping* may not be.

How big is your SGA? Each of the components of the SGA? What else do you do on the machine?
How many connected users do you typically have? What are they typically doing?
