Hi,

Use multiple instances in development. Normally, the dba must work on one instance, whilst developers work on another. That way, the database developers are using doesn't get smashed for no good reason. If that happens, then honorable dba must consider hari kirri.....

Use multiple instances if you want to use Recovery Manager.
