Actually, (at least for Oracle 7.3.4 on Solaris 2.6) it is not configured explicitly by the installation. The default value is a much lower release than the one actually installed. I don't remember the default value on my installation - I ran into exactly this problem and had to *upgrade* it to 7.2.0.0.0.
