To enlighten this discussion, check http://www.wi.leidenuniv.nl/~mhmoolen/howto-oracle.html for a detailed description to run Oracle for Linux on FreeBSD. This works very stable (including the OAS) for our development projects (Designer/2000, Web applications). We do not have any heavy load experience, but our previous experience (SCO version on FreeBSD) worked very good as well.
Remember, the policy of the FreeBSD project is to encourage commercial software to be ported to Linux, where it will run smoothly using the Linux emulator on any FreeBSD system (no performance penalty).
