Multiple Joins into the Same Table?

Folks:

Can anyone give me a nudge in the right direction with a problem?

When I run

SELECT a.employee, a.manager, b.ssn, c.ssn  FROM employees a, hrinfo b, hrinfo c
 WHERE a.employee = b.name (+) AND a.manager = c.name (+)

I get the same data returned in the 3rd & 4th columns.

Is this type of query disallowed? Is there a simple alternative?

TIA,
--Phil
