Hi Sybrand,

Thanks for your reply and please excuse my limited knowledge in this area, the main reason I installed Oracle8 is to become familiar with DBA tasks.

You mentioned increasing the db_block_buffers but on my Personal Oracle system this is only set at 200 which works fine.

Thanks for the tip on increasing block size, I will do that.

As for commiting, I do so after each insert.
