Login failes ... sometimes ?!?

Hi,

We have a unix system with several scripts that call sqlplus with an sql script to do some tasks. We are finding, that sometimes the login doesn't work. In the logfile we redirect the output to we find the same error about not being able to attach shared memory that you get when oracle is not running. We are sure it is running though.

What makes things even stranger is that we have the same configuration on three other machines, and we don't have these problems there.

Our config is Motorola 88k Hardware, Unix System V R4.3, Oracle 7.1.6.

Do you have any idea where to look for the source of the error ?
