Oracle7.3.3.0.0
Nt 4.0 SP3

Story so far
Users A, B, C, and D, have roles all_user, connect read_only, CU and A. and are able to carry out all required tasks i.e inset, update, select and delete.
Then discover they can insert and update tables they should not be able to. I then revoke there privileges on the appropriate tables (actually used security manager and deleted blocks of privileges as there were quite a few). Users can not now insert into the tables for which they still have privileges. What is even stranger is that when the hot backup is copied to my test PC (NT4.0 SP1 ) it works fine. I have created a new role with all required privileges, a new user and granted privs to role user still cannot insert into the table (works on test PC).
Only way users can insert into the tables is with DBA Privs (not the ideal) All inserts, etc are carried out through a DEV2000 Forms 4.5 from end. P.S One other unusual occurrence, when I changed the privileges originally users going into the database after these changes were unable to insert as outlined above, however, a user already using the database was able to carry out an insert until she logged out and back in again. My understanding of the privileges are that they are enabled/disabled asa soon as security manager is updated.

Sorry its such a long winded explaination but it has myself and the db designers baffled.

Thanks for any suggestions in advance. Received on Mon Mar 15 1999 - 05:01:34 CST
