Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> oracle server 8.0.5 on red hat linux 5.2. installation problems
I try to install shipping version of oracle 8.0.5 on Red Hat Linux 5.2.
after running ./orainst and filling in all variables etc. i select the
modules to install. orainst then starts to verify the integrity or
something,
and when it comes to oracle 8 RDBMS it gives me this message:
-qqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqq Yes/No qqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqk x x x There are still sgadef<SID>.dbf file(s) in $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/ x x (/oracle/u01/app/oracle/product/8.0.5/dbs/). This indicates that x x there may still be running instances. You must shut down all x x database instances associated with this ORACLE_HOME before x x upgrading the Server. Select (Yes) if you have shut down the x x instances from another terminal/window. Select (No) to abort the x x installation. x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x (Help...) (Back) (Cancel) (No) (Yes) x x x mqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqj
The dbs directory is not even there, and i have no oracle instances running,
but no matter
what i do it just returns to this screen when i press yes. no and cancel
aborts the installation.
this has been bugging me for a few days now, so i would greatly appreciate any help.
thank you
