That is just part of the 'Joy Of DB2'. DB2 locks on reads! So your Oracle users need to commit after their selects trrough the gataway!

I found out about this when our DB2 people implemented a 20 minute max idle time while holding a lock. This, in turn, gave 'strange errors to the gateway users.
