Hi all,

all you forgot the times of highly proprietary IBM? We went throught dark/costly times !!

Look into the past and learn.

We began Oracle and our software 1991 on IBM RS600; great machine at this time.
Now an upgrade of a IBM 550 is far more costly than a new server. We went to SGI Challenge. No problems, nice performant machines with enough room to grow.
Now we are experimenting with Linux. Hardware is much cheaper, OS is free, support is excellent. Migration to and from Linux to any other Unix is no problem.

Why buying a highly proprietary/overpriced OS without any way to migrate if it's getting worse?

Beware, it's one way to NT; no (easy) way back.
