Backup Manager Oracle 8

I am running Oracle 8 Ent. Ed. on an NT server. I am using OS authentication for the database. I am running in ARCHIVELOG mode with automatic archiving.

I can connect to the OEM manager as SYSDBA and start the Backup Manager. I create a backup job to backup the entire database and it always fails, with the message "Failed to authenticate user". Any suggestions? How can I become an authenticated user?
