Hi Robert,

The amount of overtime depends is very subjective. There was once that I had spent 3 days in my company trying very hard to recover its database. How do I judge this amount of overtime when sometimes I feel so free when all the databases are running smoothly. I am so free at times that I will start reading my oracle books or looking for courses to attend.

The only advice is that when the databases are running smoothly, you have more free time than any of your colleagues but when they are down, your stress level is so high that sometimes, you just want to give up.

Believe me. I have been a DBA for about 2 years.

Kenny
