The best way to put the files for O8

I have three HD which I intended to put in the programs as follow for
Oracle 8 server. Is there any better way ?



Disk 1: Windows NT 4.0 Server


            Oracle 8 Server



Disk 2: Datafiles


           redo logs



Disk 3: Archive Log


           redo logs



My concern is if disk 1 is defective, will I still able to recover the data
?
