Andreas,

    There is no need to shutdown the database and mountup it again. Try the following steps :

  1. Copy the standby controlfile to the DR machine.
  2. STARTUP NOMOUNT
  3. ALTER DATABASE MOUNT STANDBY DATABASE EXCLUSIVE
  4. Applying the archived redo log ..
  5. ALTER DATABASE ACTIVATE STANDBY DATABASE
  6. SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE
  7. STARTUP
    By the way, I have a suggestion that it is better to generate the standby controlfile at the end of 'end backup' command. Please try it and leave some comments.
