problem calling svrmgrl from shell/perl scripts - oracle 8.05

I have a hot backup script written in perl and and an export script using the Korn shell that I have inherited and were working quite sucessfully under oracle 7.3.3 (Solaris 2.5).

I am in the process of setting up an 8.0.5 installation, and both of the scripts seem are hanging up, I get

 ORA-01034: ORACLE not available

errors from both when as the equivalent of system/manager via the scripts,

but both work fine from the command line directly i.e. calling svrmgrl and then entering the commands...

The perl script is setting all of the appropriate environment variables, the ksh script is just calling exp with the USERID=XXX/XXX set in a parameter file that it references..

Both worked under the Oracle 7.3.3 workgroup server...

Any tips would be appreciated. Received on Thu Feb 11 1999 - 00:11:03 CST
