cattributes are any html attributes that are not covered by input parameters in the htp procedures, ie in formsubmit, you can do:

htp.formsubmit(cname=>'button1',cvalue=>'submit',cattributes=>'onclick="retu rn checkvals()"');

which would call a javascript function when clicking the button.
