(O8/NT) OEM & running jobs

Good day,

I'm having some difficulty working with OEM and getting a database startup job to run properly. I'm using Seagate BackupExec to backup my database with its Oracle Agent which gets hot backups of my database. Once a week, I'd like to shut the database right down and get a cold backup of the system. To this end I have a job that runs a shutdown on my database. After my backup would have run, a second job is supposed to start the database back up again. Originally, I was running OEM from the database that I was shutting down, but realised the error of my ways when the agent crashed immediately after the database shut down. The startup job is now failing with ORA-01081: cannot start already-running ORACLE - shut it down first.

Anybody a solution to this particular problem? Alternatively, I'll accept a different means of shutting my database down prior to backing up and restarting it afterwards.

I'm using Oracle 8.0.4 on NT 4 (SP3).
