What version of Oracle and VMS are you using.?

I have 3yrs+ experience of VMS 6.2 and Oracle 6 - 7.1.5.2.3. My initial trouble shooting would go something like this..

  1. was this ever working - ie accepting sqlnet v2 connections

if the answer to 1 is yes then what has changed recently?

2. has anything (configuration been changed lately) - just checking again.

3. do tns_admin:listener.ora and tns_admin:tnsnames.ora exist? - if so what are there contents?

4. does your machine "know" its own hostname - ie can you do a set host <hostname> or telnet <hostname>

   to get a session?

regards

Dave.
