cloning a 120gb database using dd

Oracle gurus,

The entire db is on raw partitions. The OS is Aix 4.1 and Oracle 7.3. I have all procedures to do cloning for an ordinary database. Do the same procedures follow if I replace cp (i.e. copying datafiles) by dd ? Export is not an alternative as we are not taking exports. If anybody has any information on this, I would be grateful for replies.
