Check your listener.ora file on the remote host. It probably contains
an entry for an Oracle sid pointing to another server. I just had the same
thing occur to me a couple of days ago. I am in the process of setting up a
new server. I copied an existing listener.ora file from another server. I
neglected to remove an entry for a sid on the original server. When I
shutdown the listener on the new server - blammo - the listener also
shutdown on the original server!
