Is a 'mount point' in Unix something that identifies a disk? As in the old disk was "d" and if ou stick everything on a new disk and mount it as "d" Oracle doesn't know the difference?

I have no idea, that's why I stuck the big note in originally. Complete with error messages....
Although I suspect even Unix might require more than you indicated if you were trying to move a database from a single disk to multiple other disks.......
Mine was ALL on the 'P' drive and I wanted to split it between the 'K' and 'O' drives. That's why I did the backup to trace for the control file...
I"ll give it another try this weekend, but I'd sure like to know what step(s) I missed that are causing me to get all these goofy errors... Received on Wed Jan 13 1999 - 21:00:35 CST
