Hi Guys,

My system has Digital Unix 4.0 and Oracle 7.3.2 The physical memory is 1G. The shm-max is 520M. The SGA is 500M. The db_block_size = 32K. The system is DSS about 25G, with only one oracle user. The only other activity in the m/c is that of recording time-tagged info to be inserted into the oracle database. But, once inserted, they are not updated.

Question:

To how much do you think the SGA and the shm-max can be increased ? And do you think 32K is too big a size ? Also, how do we find out in Digital Alpha that excess swapping and paging is going on than normal ?

Thanks is advance.
