ORACLE NAMED PIPES versus TCP/IP

hi there...

Can anyone explain to me the advantages and disavantages of using ORACLE NAMED PIPES versus TCP/IP in the Client Net configuration ??? What the most used configuration TCP or PIPES ????

Another question, anyone know how to use encripted passwords in the configuration files (ORA files) ???
