how to change password in password file?

I have created a password file in \orant\database\passwd.ora by: orapwd80 file=\orant\database\passwd.ora password=oracle entries=10

However, I am not able to change the password 'oracle'. I tried to delete the password file and recreate it again(also restart the server), and it looks like I am still using the old password 'oracle' when I: connect sys as sysdba...
