I have a similar problem with our development servers. It is probably a
network/routing problem. In my case our development servers have IP
Addresses like
193.nnn.nnn.nnn
but our network generally uses DHCP Addresses like 10.nn.nn.nn and our routers are configured to route these only. When I dial into work I am connected to a different subnet from the development servers and the IP messages cannot get routed. At work my PC is on the same subnet as the servers so everything is Okay (using LMHOSTS lookup).
