Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> Oracle 8 and NT Workstation - HELP!
I have a laptop with NT Workstation installed. I want to load Oracle 8
so that I can use Oracle Designer 2000.
I added NT Networking as well as the TCP/IP protocol to Windows but
still am unable to get the Listener to work or get access to the
TCP-Loopback Oracle service.
How do I configure NT correctly for the TCP/IP protocol? Soes the protocol need to be associated with a network adapter (which I'll never have since my laptop will never be connected to any network)? TCP/IP protocol in Win NT requires one to select either a hardwired connection or a modem connection to the network - but I will not have either of these so now I am at a loss. I have it temporarily assigned to my modem for lack of anywhere else to assign the protocol.
By the way, here are the listener error messages from the log:
TNSLSNR80 for 32-bit Windows: Version 8.0.4.0.0 - Production on

Any ideas?
Thanks,
