Me too. After 14 years using the product, I still find it better than most. But things change...

Yeah, I can see why. I just don't like it. It's not in line with the rest of the behaviour of roles for normal SQL and PL/SQL. Alternative solutions? Yeah, I know: create a schema with the packages, authorize tables to the schema and users to the packages . But that is not always practical...

I found them. Thomas gave me a lead. Didn't look good when I looked. Gotta fix it up now... The DBA that has spent most of the last 14 months forcing me to only access his production schema via roles wasn't happy though! Oh well, can't win them all...
