Can't Open Database

I am running Personal Oracle on a Windows NT Enterprise porable computer. I have been using Personal Oracle to access a database with no problems up until a few weeks ago.
I notice that the Listener no longer starts automatically, although I can launch it manually.
I can also start an Oracle instance and mount the database, but I then hit the following error message: Unable to open database. Does any have any advice on troubleshooting this problem? Received on Sun Dec 20 1998 - 16:17:04 CST
