Failed Import

I was importing an export file from one db to another when the import failed out on a coloum size error...

After looking at the error in oerr and experimenting a bit I increased the buffer size of the import and all went well...

The thing is I am unsure why this worked, and would like to know. I suspect that the entire table and/or coloum must be read into memory before import but ?????????? Any comments would be greatly appreciated...
