Hello.

I have installed oracle 8 on my Red Hat Linux box. I can connect to scott/tiger and turn on the listener and run sqlplus. However, I cannot connect to the database via my Windows98 client computer on my local area network. I tried to use Net8 Easy Config, however, it was unable to connect and returned a message " .. no hostname or object found" I created my connect string as: jim_linux.jdtechnologies.com using Net Easy Config.

jim is my Oracle SID and linux.jdtechnologies is the hostname of my Oracle server.

Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance,
