Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> HP-UX 10.20 Oracle 8.0.4 - Large SGA.
According to the distribution, I can get an SGA up to 1gb on HP-UX 10.20; however I cannot get past 1 Gb at present without the generic
HP-UX error 2 - file does not exist
which appears almost immediately on attempting to start the database.
I have
SHMMAX=1GB SHMSEG=120 (which should be high enough)
The box has 4GB of memory.
There are only 50 other shared memory segments allocated, totaling less than 100Mb, so I still have 1.6 Gb that I could in theory claim.
At present 1 have ca. 900MB for db_block_buffers, and 100Mb for the rest of the SGA.
The notes suggest that Oracle will generate several shared memory segments if I ask for an SGA larger than 1 GB, but at present it just isn't true.
Any ideas anyone ?
