Need Help Moving A Database

I have a most difficult problem and would appreciate hearing from anyone that has successfully moved an Oracle Database from one machine to another where . . . and here's the problem . . . Oracle had been at C:\ORANT (first machine) but must be at E:\ORANT on the second.

There is no problem moving the physical database, control files, log files, etc.
There is no problem renaming files in server manager after connecting. The problem is the initial connection since the control files are pointing to C:\ORANT
and do not appreciate my attempts to edit them with WordPad. Not that the ASCII characters seem to be changed but it just isn't doing the trick.
