Hi,
in the meantime we have won: Only rebuilding the control files really helped. Somethin in them must have been corrupt.

BTW: Have you known that byte # 4101 in each data file is the datafile number under Oracle 7? :-) Try "cmp -l <file1> <file2> | less".
