It depends on what Oracle version you are on. It used to be limited by block size eg 121 extents for 2k blocks, but since 7.3 (maybe 7.2??) the restriction is removed amd you can have as many extents as you want.

I still have an aversion to segments with hundreds of extents however, and tend to set these parameters rather conservatively.
