Bump it up, way up! 6000 or so should be good.
You've gotta do this with any Unix (Solaris, AIX...) and any RDBMS
(Informix, etc...).
You could check your HP-UX manuals (kernel configuration) to see what
the max is.
It won't hurt anything - you'll get a fatter kernel, but so what ?
Beats the hell out of having fork()s fail... No telling what might
happen to your database with that going on.
Move NFILE and NINODE up while you're in there.
Re-boot so the changes'll take effect.
Move 'em way up way so if you have to call support back you say, "Look Cap'tn Kirk - I've got her maxed out as it is! Now send me a patch before this thing starts throwing metal!"
