You should not install the enterpise manager on the same machine with your ORACLE 8 server - this is explicitly mentioned in the installation instructions for enterprise manager. if you install it on a separate machine ( a dedicated machine ) then fter successfull installation you must first create the network map (using discovery features or manualy entering the node(s) where ORACLE server(s) reside. Only after that you cna successfully connect to them and manage the servers.
