The "bug" is totally correctable, and does not warrant such drastic (and extremely expensive) steps. If you are going to abandon Access, for heaven's sake do not do it because of this.
And it would be awkward, to say the least, to tell a client with, say, 1000 machines running Office 97/Access 97 applications, "Hey, guess what, you have to switch to Oracle NOW!".
Get real, get a life!
