Home -> Community -> Usenet -> c.d.o.server -> Re: Install Oracle7 on SCO
Ran into the same problem.
Just download the Gcc (free compiler
Skunkware version) from SCO's web site.
You need to copy it (rename it to cc) to satisfy
the make for orainst. Funny, Oracle does not
mention the need for the development system
in the product documentation. Possibly in the
release notes, but why do I want to buy an entire development system package
just
to make a lousy listener fly. Funny also,
you can crank the database without the
c compiler if you don't need to connect it
to any clients! If I wanted to develop software
, I would first want to develop a working
installation program to replace the crap that
Oracle provides!
The product does say:
Oracle7 Server Enterprise Edition
Version 7.3.4.0.0
for SCO Unix
Not:
Oracle7 Server Enterprise Edition
Version 7.3.4.0.0
for SCO Unix and Development System!
You'd think it would install on it's own two feet. Received on Tue Sep 01 1998 - 11:23:44 CDT
