Oracle Diagnostic and tuning packs have some neat tools like 1. SQL Analyzer, which will help you identify which SQL statements are take up

    maximum resources and hence cause a bottleneck to the system. 2. Oracle Expert is also good at identifying parameters that need tuning. This is useful

    if you are not an expert at all the database parameters. 3. Tablespace manager is good at identifying which tablespace is running out of space.

As far as platinum goes, I have used it for porting SQL Server data to Oracle. It was
a reliable tool. However I have not used it for Database administration.

I would suggest you get trial copies of both the products and let your DBAs try them
out.
