I think this depends on your Oracle version.

If my memory serves me, then versions up to 7.2.3 did not write to log files
when UNRECOVERABLE=TRUE. This changed by 7.3.2 such that log files were written whatever you do. (we had to take to DB into noarchivelog to do

big loads). 7.3.3 allows DIRECT loads to be UNRECOVERABLE, and no redo is written.

Can anyone clarify ?
