Hi,

Check the files TNSNAMES.ORA and LISTENER.ORA within \ORANT\NETWORK\ADMIN on the server. Both should have references to the new SID's.

Check TNSNAMES.ORA that the sid, alias, IP or Host and ports are what you expect. The TNSNAMES.ORA on the client should reflect the same.

The modifications to LISTENER.ORA can be done by hand by adding a SID to the end of the list. Bounce the listener - start the services.

Try sqlplus first on the server then the client.     If the client still is a problem. Check it's settings for TNSNAMES.ORA - should be same as server. Then try to TNSPING for the database alias (or IP address) to verify connection. If you don't get it, go back to the server and search for the LISTENER.LOG which should tell you something about how the client resolved the full SQL*Net connect string and attempted to contact the listener. HTH,
    Greg
