Getting Access to see an MSysConf table stored in Oracle with the right name

We use Oracle 7.3 at work with Access 97 as the front end and are attempting to use a MSysConf table created in Oracle to help optimize the way Access and Oracle interact. However, we can't get it to work. Access has to see the table as being named MSysConf and not ACossey.MSysConf. We have tried a synonym (or is it a pseudonym, I never can remember), but Access insists on converting the synonym of MSysConf to ACossey.MSysConf.

Anyone know how to get round this, please?

PS Just changing the name of the linked table in the Access database window
didn't work either.
PPS Trying to change the name stored in MSysObjects didn't work as it
wouldn't even let me type in anything.
