Hi guys,
I am still not able to fix the above problem. The permission on oracle binary is
4755. $ORACLE_HOME, TWO_TASK is set ok.

Let me explain the scenario a little bit. I have 'oracle' user where the oracle software resides (software owner of oracle) and another user "meta" who is also of dba group.
sqlplus runs fine from "oracle" user but not as meta user. I get the above error messages only as meta user. Do i need to reformat the unix kernel to fix sga problem ?
if i use tstshm,I get the message "segments not attached contigously !" Does it mean anything ?. I checked with some oracle installations and they get the same message.
Also, i am using only the mandatory environment variables ORACLE_HOME,ORACLE_SID,ORACLE_TERM and path of oracle binaries.

i need your advice.
