Yes. Oracle always has at least two redo logs. When one fills, Oracle switches to the next -- round robin fashion.

If your Oracle database is in ARCHIVLOG mode, Oracle will not overwrite a log file until it has been copied to tape or another directory. This copying (archiving) can be automatic.

If the archive tape or directory fills up, the archiver becomes 'stuck' because it has no place to write the copy. We backup and purge the archived logs daily.
