non-system rollback -- don't have to create for new tablespaces

All of the Oracle books I have state that you need to create a non-system rollback segment before you can create new tablespaces.

However I can always do a "CREATE TABLESPACE XYZ" _immediately_ after the CREATE DATABASE command is finished. The oldest version that I tried this with was 7.1 and it worked. Of course, I _do_ create non-system rollbacks for normal setups but I don't need to make them before making new tablespaces.

Are these books wrong? Were they applicable to Oracle 6.x and didn't get edited out of the new versions? Received on Sat Jun 20 1998 - 22:32:01 CDT
