I am new to Oracle on the UNIX O.S. and I have successfully installed both Oracle 7.3.3 and Oracle 8.03. I am able to reference either version by refining the ORACLE_SID and ORACLE_HOME variables. There is one thing that I haven't figured-out yet is how to start each instance separately without modifying the /etc/oratab file which references both instances when dbshut or dbstart is executed.

I hope this helps. Again, I am new to the UNIX world but I have 15 instances of Oracle executing under an OpenVMS O.S. and trying to make UNIX look and feel like VMS (I have finally realized) is not a good plan.
